Introduction to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI)
Understanding Ourselves and Others
This seminar is an introduction to personality type and the MBTI through individual feedback and a day long
group session. It begins with individuals completing and returning the indicator. An hour-long individual
verification session is then completed to confirm and explain results. The group session provides an introduction
to the eight preferences of type, how they normally appear in the workplace, and tips for effective communication
and teamwork with those of different type. The value of each preference in the workplace is emphasized. The
impact of type preference on team interaction is discussed and participants are taught to evaluate strengths and
potential weaknesses of teams of varied type composition. The focus is to develop a practical understanding of
type concepts with tools for immediate use.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) is an exceptional tool for developing a greater understanding of
ourselves, how we relate to others, and how people function together -- whether easily or with difficulty -- in
teams, groups, and organizations.  The MBTI is the best
documented tool in management science today.  The
MBTI describes types in terms of preferences between four pairs of dichotomies dealing with how people are
energized, how they prefer to take in information, how they prefer to make decisions, and how much structure
they prefer in the world around them. The MBTI describes human personality types along four different
dichotomies that combine to form sixteen different personality types as shown on the
MBTI Type Table.
The seminar typically requires a full work day, but can be adjusted to meet client needs. Each participant
receives a detailed description of their own type and a book on the use of psychological type in the workplace.
Please contact us for additional information on the MBTI and how we can help you introduce it to your
organization.
